Description
This is one of the reasons Chardonnay is making a comeback, when wines show such bright intense fruit, very much in the nectarine citrus spectrum, and then balanced with some classy restrained oak. Just enough creaminess on the palate for interest yet also some soft acidity keeping the fruit running long through the palate. We thought this was a great $30+ Chard so at $20 it is awesome!
If your response is......'I don't drink Chardonnay"..... then you are definitely missing out.
James Halliday rates it as one of his best sub $30 Chards with 94 points and says.....
Light straw-green; part wild, part tank ferment, part mlf, part barrel-fermented in new French barrels - a complex, labour intensive path. All this has paid handsome dividends for an immaculately balanced and long wine, its grapefruit and white peach flavours demonstrating just how cool Mount Gambier is. Drink to 2017
