Description
Savignon is a French grape variety found mostly in the Jura region in the French Alps. A close cousin of the aromatic gewurztraminer grape, savignin should not be confused with Sauvignon Blanc. Sometimes made into a dry style of wine this fabulous offering from Tscharke is made in a slightly sweet style much like a moscato. With just the tiniest hint of spritz, lifted floral aromas sit perfectly with a subtle spice. In the mouth sweet fruit abounds with green pear and honeydew. Despite the sweetness the palate doesn't cloy and finishes clean and surprisingly dry with just enough acid to hold it all together. Low in alcohol, light and very refreshing, this wine would complement light canapes or even a desert. Or simply chill and enjoy.
