James Oatley Tic Tok Pinot Grigio 2010

Description

This is a new wine from Oatley Wines in their James Oatley Tic Toc range ,which pays homage to Bob Oatleys great great grandfather James , who was one of the Australian colony's first and best credentialed clockmakers.

Although previously producing a popular Pinot Gris in this range , they have taken the opportunity of the availability of fruit from a particular Adelaide Hills vineyard to make a wine from this grape variety in the more tangy and savory Italian style ( "Grigio" versus the softer French version called "Gris'). This wine is made from grapes which were harvested in the cool of the evening, crushed and fermented with a cultured yeast and made in stainless steel tanks. The wine is dry and slightly lighter in alcohol than the previous vintage Pinot Gris.

The winery says that that the wine exhibits crisp , bright fruit flavours and is "full-bodied, yet zippy and tasting of juicy pears and melon" . It is suitable to drink immediately, delivers a fresh summer tasting drink and should be enjoyed fresh as it will not improve with cellaring.
