Elderton Command Shiraz 2002

Description

The Elderton Command Shiraz has established an enviable reputation since the first vintage in 1984. It is truly one of Australia's best and most highly regarded Icon wines.
Accolades have come from the world over for vintages such as the 1992, which was chosen by the influential wine critic Robert Parker in his U.S. magazine the 'Wine Advocate' as one of the world's top 80 wines. 'Wine Spectator' placed the 2000 in their top 100 wines at No.27 & awarded it 97 points, not bad from such a difficult vintage.
A long list of accolades and great scores from critics have maintained this wines pedigree over the years and it has been a long time favourite for Stewarts Wine Co and its clients, especially when offered at this great price.

The Elderton Command Shiraz grapes are grown on a selected portion of the Elderton Estate vineyard, from vines planted in the early 1900's. Grown on rich river silt soils and red brown earth over limestone, in a Mediterranean climate, with cropping levels less than 4 tonnes per hectare. 2002 was a dream year viticulturally, with mild summer temperatures being greeted with a very dry and mild Autumn, ensuring long hang times, great baume's and amazing natural acidity.
